Tuarez’s lawyer warned of the danger he faces.

Jose Carlos Tuarez’s lawyer, Teresa Rivas said her client’s life would be priced at two million dollars. According to Rivas, Tuarez told her that other detainees alerted him to this request.

The lawyer fears for Tuarez’s life, since the order issued by Judge Marco Guerra to move Tuarez to prison 4 in Quito has not been fulfilled.

The former president of the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) remains at the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) in Guayaquil for the alleged crime of influence peddling.

The risk that Tuarez’s life runs was the argument that Rivas used to request the freedom of her client, within the Habeas Corpus action that was denied by judges Alexandra Novo Crespo, Rolando Colorado Aguirre, and Andres Alvarado Luzuriaga.
