The deadline to approve the report on the political impeachment against Government Minister Maria Paula Romo is today. This request was promoted by legislators Roberto Gomez, Lourdes Cuesta, and Amapola Naranjo, for the alleged breach of duties regarding the prison crisis, citizen security, femicides and misuse of public goods.
Several members of the legislative commission spoke about this process. Among them, Johanna Cedeño said the accusers lacked forcefulness in presenting the evidence.
Eliseo Azuero emphasized that the Comptroller’s report is key in determining if there were abuses by Romo -regarding the use of airplanes- since the Minister said she is not subject to the hierarchical order of the Police.
Meanwhile, Lourdes Cuesta said: “If the Committee saves the accused, we will have a bad minister for a while. She is not fit to guarantee the security of the country.”
