Human Rights violations and protagonists of violent acts are being investigated.

The Citizen Participation Council (Cpccs), Ombudsman’s Office, State Attorney General’s Office, National Assembly and international organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) are investigating the recorded events during October protests.

The Ombudsman Freddy Carrion explained that the objective is to determine responsibilities for human rights violations.

A few days ago, Foreign Minister Jose Valencia said he would send to international organizations “additional information on the transparency of State actions against violent groups.”

In turn, Government Minister Maria Paula Romo said that two possible cases of alleged misuse of force by the National Police would be investigated.

The Prosecutor’s Office also files a complaint against Indigenous leaders Jaime Vargas, Leonidas Iza and Rafael Pandam for inciting violence.
