“A person is considered innocent until proven guilty.”
Anti-Corruption Secretary, Dora Ordoñez announced that she will present the new Transparency Law on December 9, 2019. Among the objectives, it will define “what information is public and which is not.”
“It was necessary to implement a law in accordance with the Constitution and grant a little more power to the Ombudsman’s Office, an entity that could not sanction,” Ordoñez said.
She explained that many institutions do not comply with the Law and she regretted that there was no possibility of sanction.
“This law also defines what information can be public and which not. For instance, a person’s bank history. In addition, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty.”
