The indigenous leader considers that there should be a process against Maria Paula Romo.
The leader of the Cotopaxi Indigenous Campesino Movement (MICC), Leonidas Iza warned Vice President Otto Sonnenholzner that if he continues “trying to divide” the (indigenous) communities, he could face indigenous “justice.”
“To the Vice President: if you continue trying to divide us, do not complain about receiving indigenous justice. Respect for jurisdictions,” he exclaimed.
In addition, he said that “there is no independence from justice.” And in Ecuador, “the process is to prosecute and use preventive detention to reduce reaction levels.”
Meanwhile, the president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), Jaime Vargas clarified that they are not terrorists, criminals, or subversives. He also claimed that there were signs of racism and repression against indigenous people who participated in the protests.
