In May, the death of another Andean condor was recorded in Cotopaxi.
The ‘Condor Andino Ecuador’ foundation reported that on the night of December 24, 2019, a female condor died after receiving several shots. They explained that her death was due to the severity of the injuries.
“Arca” was the name of the condor that the foundation rescued a few weeks ago. It regretted this event recorded on Christmas Eve. Despite the efforts made by rescuers and veterinarians, she did not survive.
Arca joined the list of deceased condors this year. “We regret that, while organizations and people with environmental awareness give everything to take care of the environment and its species, others end up in seconds with all this work,” the foundation authorities said.
In May 2019, the death of another Andean condor was recorded in Cotopaxi. According to figures from the last census, there are about 150 wild condors in Ecuador.
