They will file a complaint before the Constitutional Court with the backing of CONAIE.

The Sarayacu People will sue the government for not complying with the ruling issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights seven years ago.

The leader of the movement belonging to CONAIE, Miriam Cisneros reported that they have mobilized to Quito to officially submit a lawsuit before the Constitutional Court.

Cisneros said the government has violated “the rights to life and Sarayacu communal territories.” For this reason, she urges government authorities to attend this request.

The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador leader, Jaime Vargas said that “Sarayacu people have all the political, technical and legal support of CONAIE. We join this struggle and we will be vigilant.”
