Authorities and social organizations carried out a massive night march on the third day of protests in Carchi. During the mobilization, there were clashes with the Police, who did not hesitate to use tear gas. The result was the detention of 14 citizens.
“The Police cannot make abusive use of force,” the prefect of the province Guillermo Herrera said. “It must be established whether the detainees were participating in the demonstration or not. We have also requested the intervention of the International Red Cross.”
Meanwhile, the Rumichaca bridge is abandoned. The terrestrial terminal does not authorize the departure of interprovincial buses. Trade and international transport are still paralyzed.
