The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a new loan of USD 128 million for Ecuador, in order to improve the road infrastructure in the south of the country. This money will be used to finance the border integration project on the Bellavista-Zumba-La Balsa road in Zamora Chinchipe.
“The objective of the project is to improve the economic integration of the southern and southeastern regions of Ecuador (…) through the Bellavista-Zumba-La Balsa highway; that connects with the Peruvian provinces of Cajamarca, Amazonas, and Loreto.”
The approved loan will have a disbursement period of five years, with a repayment term of 25 years, and a grace period of six years.
