A court in Santiago found four people from Otavalo guilty of felony murder.

In June 2018, Margarita Anacacoy died due to the beatings she received from the detainees. The violent act was recorded in a video.

After her arrest, the Ecuadorians apologized to Chileans saying they were drunk.
