Rafael Correa and Jorge Glas are called to trial over ‘Bribes’ Case

Judge Daniella Camacho calls 21 of the 24 defendants to trial over the “2012-2016 Bribes” case.

Former President Rafael Correa, former Vice President Jorge Glas, and 19 other people were called to trial for the 2012-2016 Bribes Case.

The judge suspended the process against Maria Augusta Enriquez (Vinicio Alvarado’s ex-advisor), Cai Runguo (Sinohydro), and Jose Verdu (Constructora Verdu) due to lack of evidence.

While among the people called to trial would also be Alexis Mera, Vinicio Alvarado, Maria Duarte, Christian Viteri, Viviana Bonilla, Pamela Martinez, and Laura Teran.

With this decision, the case returns to the Criminal Chamber of the National Court of Justice, where the Court that will lead the trial hearing for the 21 defendants will be established.
