“This organization does not seek to contribute to the debate that Ecuadorians need.”

After the announcement of the Unitary Front of Workers (FUT) leaders about a demonstration for October 30, Presidency’s Particular Secretary Juan Sebastian Roldan said that President Lenin Moreno will not meet with the FUT “because we understand that if there is a scheduled demonstration, the dialogue is no longer part of the agenda.”

On Thursday morning, the workers’ organization said they had been excluded from the dialogue between the Government and the United Nations to address labor reforms. Therefore, they will hold a nationwide protest on Wednesday 30.

“President Lenin Moreno understands that if the FUT calls for a nationwide demonstration -in the middle of the dialogue process- this organization does not seek to contribute to the debate that Ecuadorians need,” Roldan said.

During a press conference, Economy Minister Richard Martinez announced that the economic measures will be sent on October 18, while labor reforms are still in dialogue with several sectors. Therefore, they would be sent in the coming weeks.
