They disagree with labor reforms.
The Unitary Front of Workers (FUT) announced Thursday that the Government “has mocked” the workers and it has not heard their proposals on labor reforms announced by President Lenin Moreno. Therefore, they announced a new protest for October 30.
During a press conference, union leaders said they were not taken into account for the dialogue between the Government and the United Nations (UN).
FUT leader Mesias Tatamuez criticized the economic and labor measures announced by President Moreno, including that occasional contracts of public employees will be renewed with a 20% less salary, as well as the reduction from 30 to 15 days of vacation and that public companies’ workers will contribute monthly with one day of their salary.
A few days ago, the Executive Committee of the National Confederation of Public Employees also criticized these measures. They proposed the elimination of lifetime wages for ex-presidents and former vice presidents. They also suggested withdrawing housing benefits to those entitled to these perks.
