More than 5 million Ecuadorians do not have suitable employment

The latest INEC report shows the situation that citizens are going through.

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) revealed that Ecuador reached the highest level of unemployment in the last three years.

According to several surveys, Ecuadorians have expressed that one of their concerns in 2020 is the lack of employment.

This is due to layoffs in the public sector, within the optimization plan promoted by the Government, and the lack of hiring by the private sector.

Of the 8’379.355 people who are part of the Economically Active Population (PEA) in the country, only 3’228.032 have suitable employment.

While a total of 5’151.323 do not have a proper job and 1’649.346 Ecuadorians carry out some type of activity that does not reach a basic salary.
