U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo considers that “Ecuador is taking important steps on economic reform that will enable long-term prosperity for all Ecuadorians.”
Pompeo held a meeting with Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Jose Valencia, General Secretary of the Presidency Juan Sebastian Roldan, and Economy Minister Richard Martinez.
His statement took place after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved another loan for USD $ 498.4 million.
According to Morgan Ortagus, Pompeo’s spokesman, the authorities talked “about a bilateral cooperation between the United States and Ecuador and other areas of trade cooperation.” He also said that Pompeo thanked “the partnership with Ecuador in the region and its support for democracy and human rights.”
