Chile receives 300k Convidecia coronavirus vaccine doses

(Latin press) Chilean government authorities received Friday the first batch of 300,000 Convidecia vaccine doses, a candidate from the Chinese Laboratory CanSino.

With this first batch, the CanSino candidate joins other vaccines (Pfizer and AstraZeneca) that are already applied in Chile to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

As many as 21,798,706 vaccine doses have been received by the Chilean authorities to fight the disease, of which over 17,170,000 stem from Chinese Laboratory Sinovac, according to official figures.

Upon receiving the Convidecia batch at the Arturo Merino International Airport, Chile´s Health Minister Enrique Paris described this acquisition as a milestone to move on the immunization campaign, since it is characterized by requiring a single-dose jag for enough immunity to Covid-19. For this reason, the use of Convidecia vaccine will be sent to those territories of the country where it is more difficult to reach population.
