About 600 thousand people traveled in international air traffic through Ecuador

A total of 578,916 travelers were mobilized by air during the first quarter of the year, this was announced by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Ecuador (DGAC).

In a statement, the entity said that the Air Transport Management figures correspond to domestic and international flights that were made on a regular and non-regular basis.

In January, 60,249 passengers were mobilized in domestic air traffic, while in February and March 58,908 and 77,500 did so, respectively.

In the same period, travelers who traveled in international air traffic (regular and non-scheduled) from or to Ecuador totaled 130,730 in January, 110,979 in February, and 140,550 in March.

In relation to air cargo transportation, 81,285 tons traveled by air through domestic and international flights. Among the transported products are flowers, perishable products among others.

On a national scale, the routes with the highest passenger demand were Quito-Guayaquil, Quito-Cuenca and Quito-Guayaquil-Baltra, all in both directions.

While the cities with the highest demand for international flights were Bogotá, Madrid, Mexico, Miami and Panama.

In June 2020, air transport was progressively resumed after the most critical months of the pandemic.
