The Ecuadorian Ministry of Health publishes that only 245,512 people have received the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, since January 21, 2021, when the vaccination process began.
While 821,960 have received the first dose. Between both values, the country has a total of 1,067,472 vaccinated. The inoculation is carried out in more than 200 vaccination points nationwide, among complaints for lousy organization.
As of May 2, 1,999,260 doses of vaccines have arrived in the country (Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca). It is expected that until May of this year, before President Moreno ends the government, 4 million will arrive and, in this way, be able to comply with the vaccination of two million people. The day with the most daily vaccinations was April 29, when the vaccine was administered to 64,352 people: 62,276 received the first and 2,076 the second.
Zones 8 and 9 are the most vaccinated. In zone 8 of the MSP (Guayaquil, Samborondón and Durán) 118,569 people received the first vaccine and 39,119 the second, for a total of 157,688. While Zone 9 of the MSP (Metropolitan District of Quito) has 157,532 vaccinated with the first dose and 54,071 with the two, in total there are 211,603. While Zone 2 of the MSP (Napo, Orellana and Pichincha Rural) is the one with the least vaccinated with 52,220 in total: 42,029 the first dose and 10,191 with the two vaccines.
However, the Minister of Health, Camilo Salinas, reported that there is still a lack of 30% of professionals, first line, who must be vaccinated. “They are more from private institutions and Social Security. The Ministry of Health is 86% to 90%, but we are expanding to professionals such as dentists, “he said.
The offer of the President-elect, Guillermo Lasso, was to vaccinate 9 million people in the first 100 days of his government.
