The President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, his wife, Rocío González and a delegation of five ministers will travel to Miami, United States, to participate in the “Forum for the Defense of Democracy”, to be held on May 5, 2021.
Through Executive Decree 1310, the president ordered that he be accompanied on this trip by a delegation made up of the first lady, Rocío González de Moreno; Jorge Wated, Secretary General of the Cabinet; Johana Pesántez, legal secretary of the Presidency; the Minister of Telecommunications and Secretary of Communication in charge, Andrés Michelena; the minister of foreign relations, Manuel Mejía; and the Ecuadorian ambassador to the United States, Ivonne Baki.
The document also establishes that the per diem and expenses of this trip will be covered with the budgets of the institutions to which each official belongs.
This Wednesday, May 5, Moreno will participate as keynote speaker in the “Forum for the Defense of Democracy in the Americas”, which will be attended by presidents and former presidents of Latin America.
The event is organized by the Interamerican Institute for Democracy, which maintains a stance against progressivism.
The intervention of the head of state is expected to last one hour. In addition, the meeting will also be attended by the former Minister of Government, María Paula Romo, who will refer to the October 2019 strike.
