The mayor of Guayaquil, Cynthia Viteri, spoke about the health crisis that the city is experiencing and asked for extreme measures to be taken; since, in recent weeks there have been hundreds of deaths, out of the usual average. In addition, she indicated that 20 doctors die, in Guayaquil, every month, due to the pandemic.
Viteri inaugurated the fourth vaccination point in the city, which will be located in the Mucho Lote sector and will be administered by the Municipality. In this event, she explained that important measures must be taken to stop contagions, since hospitals are full and there are hundreds of deaths in recent weeks.
«The previous week 178 people died above the usual average of deaths in Guayaquil. They attribute that to COVID. This past week, there were 256 people above the usual average, attributed to COVID. We are increasing every day more infections, suspected cases, confirmed cases with PCR and deaths “.
The mayor explained that one of the measures that could be applied in the city is a focused curfew, since only in this way can human mobility be controlled and contagion stopped.
“If there are no ICU beds or space in hospitals and people continue to get sick, there will be no logistical and medical capacity to save their lives. 20 doctors are dying a month ”.
On the other hand, Viteri called on the women of Guayaquil to prevent their relatives from leaving their homes “unnecessarily” and only being out to eat, live or work.
“This is overflowing every week, but if you take control of your home and nothing but your home, preventing you from going out unnecessarily, women will be able to keep your family together and alive.”
