Transporters protest in Ecuador over fuel increase

The intra- and inter-Provincial bus units that are part of the National Federation of Passenger Transport Cooperatives of Ecuador (Fenacotip) began with a national stoppage for 48 hours, due to the lack of responses and agreements with the Government

Carriers demand that they attend to their needs; Since, the price of premium diesel, used by these units, increased in the country for 10 consecutive months, but no compensation or targeting was made, as promised.

At the moment, there are reports of hundreds of citizens who denounce lack of transportation, in different cities of the country. They who ask the authorities for a solution, because they cannot be transferred to other cities or provinces.

The carriers explain that with the new price of diesel they do not have profitability, in addition, they assert that it would also have increased the cost of various inputs that are used in their work, that added to the economic and health crisis that the country is experiencing, would not allow them to work normally.

On the other hand, the urban transport service will operate normally; since, with them, there were approaches and in some cities the increase in passage has already crystallized.

At the moment, there is no response from the President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, or from his ministers.
