Health Minister Camilo Salinas reported that new doses of Pfizer vaccines will arrive this Wednesday, April 14, and a shipment of Astrazéneca will arrive on Friday.
In a discussion, the minister mentioned that there is a planning for the arrival of vaccines and, by this Wednesday, 50 thousand more doses of Pfizer will arrive, 110 thousand more from AstraZeneca and by the end of the month one million more from Sinovac.
Salinas explained that the three types of vaccines that the country has (Pfizer, Sinovac and AstrZeneca) are the best in the world and have the effectiveness and safety of 95 to 98%.
“Pfizer has its technical specifications for the vulnerable group such as seniors and frontline. Sinovac can be (used) in the elderly, vulnerable people and people over 65 years of age. AstraZeneca for people 18 to 65 years old. The indications are not put by us, but by PAHO ”, he affirmed.
The minister also indicated that the three vaccines have an effectiveness and safety for COVID and a percentage of effectiveness for the variants of the United Kingdom and Brazil, which already circulate in the country, with 50% to 70% to avoid complications and morbidity. .
Until April 10 in the country there are 274,160 people who received the first vaccine and 183,300 people inoculated with the two doses.
According to the Government’s offers, until May they will vaccinate two million people, within Phase 1 of the Ecuador Vaccination Plan.
