Dominican Republic announces arrival of Sinovac vaccines

(Prensa Latina) Dominican Public Health Minister Daniel Rivera said on Tuesday that a new batch of Sinovac vaccines will arrive in the country in the coming days to continue with the National Vaccination Campaign.

According to a press release, Rivera also announced that some 570,000 people have already received the first dose, and called on the elderly to go to the vaccine sites for immunization.

He added that ‘the chances of contagion for people who do not receive their vaccines are 16 percent, while for those who get vaccinated is 0.004 percent.’

Rivera recalled that the solution to fight Covid-19 is vaccination, a process which guarantees greater efficiency and less lethality.

However, he reiterated that even though people have been vaccinated, they should continue to comply with the established health protocols such as the use of face masks, social distancing and constant hand-washing.
