In a year of health emergency there were 179.446 agglomerations in Ecuador

On March 12, 2020, the Government declared a health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In one year, the ECU911 has received more than 11 million alerts and attended 4 million emergencies.

On March 12, the first national Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) was activated due to the health emergency. There were confinements and restrictions in the country.

One of the recommendations to mitigate the pandemic is to avoid crowds. However, in this year of health emergency, the ECU911 attended 179.446. Quito is the city with the most alerts, with 23%, followed by Guayaquil with 11% and Cuenca with 7%.

In total, the ECU911 received 11 million 21 thousand 245 alerts and there were 4 million 28 thousand 991 emergencies that were attended, which represents a variation of 6% with respect to 2019.

The city with the highest number of emergencies attended was Guayaquil, with 774.064, followed by Quito with 751.920, Cuenca with 172.560, Santo Domingo with 135.362 and Ambato 126.977.

With 350.333, May was the month with the most emergencies, August had 349.495 and April with 345.947 emergencies.

Citizen security was the service with the most emergencies attended, with a total of 2 million 835 thousand 722, followed by emergencies related to health management, with 708.947.

In addition, there was an increase in the alerts attended by libadores with respect to the previous year. From March 2019 to March 2020 there were 342.783, while in the pandemic year there are 370.908, which represents a variation of 8%. Guayaquil was the city with the most emergencies with 22%, followed by Quito with 17%, Cuenca with 5%, Riobamba, as well as Ibarra, with 3%.
