Bolivian president warns about right-wing misinformation

(Prensa Latina) Venezuela on Tuesday condemned the impact of the unilateral coercive US sanctions during the 4th Meeting of the Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development Forum.

Speaking at the meeting, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Venezuelan Vice President for Planning Ricardo Menéndez strongly rejected the tightening of these punitive measures amid the scourge of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ricardo Menéndez said that, as a result of the so-called unilateral sanctions adopted from Washington, Venezuela´s international revenues scaled down 99% in recent years.

Faced with this scenario, Menéndez called on the international community to further strict respect for the principles of the United Nations System, which must be above the interests of any ’empire or power,’ he said.

Menéndez claimed that the UN’s sustainable development goals are the key to face the effects of current global health emergency.

In this regard, he stressed that these objectives should not be deferred or prolonged, despite the existence of structural financing plights and unilateral impositions aimed at hindering the peoples´ development.
