The National Electoral Council confirmed that for the second round it will request a rapid test of Covid-19 from the members of the voting receiving board, since this measure helped reduce the “risk of contagion” in the February 7 elections.
According to data from the CNE, there were 277.263 people selected as members of the JRV for February 7 and it will be the same who will participate on April 11, in the second electoral round for the Presidency of the Republic. Of those total members, it is unknown how many were tested for antigen.
Despite not knowing how many people underwent the antigen test, it is known that 3,000 members of the JRVs were isolated as a result of these tests.
After the February 7 elections, there was an increase in positive cases of Covid-19 in several cities, for which reason, members of the Armed Forces were asked to facilitate the access of voters to the polling places to avoid new crowds.
The members of the JRVs must take the rapid test two or three days before the second round of elections on April 11, 2021.
