Ecuador receives the first 84.000 AstraZenca vaccines and 62.000 more from Pfizer

Ecuador received the first 84.000 doses of the AstraZenca vaccine and more than 62.000 more doses from Pfizer.

In Quito, the sixth shipment of vaccines from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer arrived, which contains 62.010 doses against COVID-19 and a total of 147.370 doses that have reached the country of Pfizer, of the six million that the Government agreed.

In addition, the country received the first vaccines from AstraZeneca, through the Covax Facility initiative, of the 756.000 it plans to deliver to Ecuador.

In total, the country adds 293.430 doses received for the immunization process, which is currently in Phase 1, in which it prioritizes medical personnel, older adults, public forces, teachers, among others.

The Government announced the agreement of 20 million doses, with different pharmaceutical companies. While the progress of the immunization process is fraught with complaints and irregularities. According to the Ministry of Health, as of March 15, 121.054 people have been vaccinated.
