Government of Ecuador reports that 1’700.000 vaccines will arrive in April

The Government plans to receive 1’736.000 vaccines from Pfizer, Covax and Sinovac in April. The largest shipment will be from Sinovac, with one million doses, which will arrive in the country on April 3. This was announced by the Secretary General of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Jorge Wated, in a tour of the Bicentennial Temporary Attention Center, in Quito.

The official commented that this will allow the volume of vaccinated to grow per day and thus comply with Phase 1 in which doctors, adults over 65 years of age, people with disabilities, teachers, police officers, military and firefighters.

According to Wated, the goal is to reach “4 million vaccinations until the end of this government and leave the next 16 million vaccines that will continue to arrive.”

According to the Minister of Health, Mauro Falconí, there are about 235 thousand people vaccinated until the morning of this March 29 and that for Wated they will increase because, even, through the Las Manuelas program, 80.000 people have already been identified that they cannot move from their homes and where they will go with the medical personnel for their immunization.

The Secretary of the Presidency indicated that the Executive is in negotiations to purchase more vaccines than those already committed (20 million), until the change of government.

He said that it cannot be said that there is a regrowth like the one registered last year, but he did say that there is an increase in the number of infections.
