Danilo Carrera Drouet, brother-in-law of the presidential candidate, Guillermo Lasso and president of the Board of the Banco de Guayaquil, is one of the contributors to the businessman’s campaign for the second round of elections on April 11.
This is detailed in the biweekly spending report that the two political parties, which participate in the democratic contest, must present before the National Electoral Council (CNE).
This document details that the candidate, sponsored by the Christian Social Party and CREO, had income to his campaign of USD 760.000.
Among the people who finance this campaign are Danilo Carrera Drouet, president of the Board of Directors of Banco de Guayaquil, of which Lasso is still a shareholder; Carlos Lasso, brother of the president and Guillermo Lasso himself.
In Carrera’s case, he has “donated” USD 250.000 to the presidential candidate. Lasso’s brother also contributed the same amount of money, while Omar Zambrano, a former candidate for Mayor of Samborondón, made his contribution in kind; that is, he donated goods or services.
On the other hand, the presidential binomial for UNES, made up of Andrés Arauz and Carlos Rabascall, as part of their “Crowdfunding” initiative, which can be found on their website, have managed to raise USD 1.15 million from volunteers, for the campaign for this second round.
