The National Federation of Cooperatives of Interprovincial Passenger Transport of Ecuador (FENACOPTIP) warned that, if they do not reach an agreement with the National Government on fuel prices, they will paralyze their activities next Tuesday, April 6.
The president of this organization, Abel Gómez, gave the Ecuadorian government a decision on fuel prices until April 5, after its last increase on March 11, according to the regulation band; otherwise, they will paralyze their activities indefinitely.
Gómez stated that this resolution is extended to the National Electoral Council (CNE) and considered that the president of the electoral body, Diana Atamaint, should be aware of what is happening in this sector and requested to intervene before the authorities due to the risk of mobility in the election day of April 11.
“WE DON’T WANT TO BOYCOTT THE ELECTORAL PROCESS,” SAID GÓMEZ.
In addition, he called on urban transporters to join in this decision to stop activities and held the national government responsible for the economic situation in this sector.
The federation, in addition, denounced that the Ministry of Finance has not given answers about the debts that they have with the carriers.
