Former Brazilian justice ministers ask to prosecute Moro

(Prensa Latina) At least seven former Brazilian justice ministers signed a manifesto to ask the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to try the suspected partiality by former Judge Sergio Moro in trials, it was confirmed on Thursday.

According to journalist Monica Bergamo in her column in Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper, the document was signed by Jose Carlos Dias, Jose Gregori, Eugenio Aragon, Renan Calheiros, Jose Eduardo Cardoso, Torquato Jardim and Tarso Genro.

Former President Jose Sarney (1985-1990) also sent a letter to support the initiative.

The document was presented on Monday with the signatures of politicians such as Ciro Gomes, Rodrigo Maia, Eduardo Paes, Marta Suplicy and Aecio Neves.

Youtuber Felipe Neto and artists such as Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil and Zeca Pagodinho also signed the text.

The letter was organized by lawyers Pedro Serrano, Marco Aurelio de Carvalho, Carol Proner and retired Judge Keranik Boujikian.

Despite a 2-2 tie vote in a hearing held this week, the STF could decide to confirm in the next few days Moro’s arbitrariness in his trials against former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Ministers Gilmar Mendes and Ricardo Lewandowski voted for Moro’s suspicion.
