(Prensa Latina) A dozen minors were killed during a bombing by the Colombian Army, as part of an operation against insurgent groups in Guaviare Department, local media reported on Wednesday.

Journalist and politician Hollman Morris confirmed the information on a live YouTube broadcast and provided data on the minors killed during the military operation on March 2.

Hollman, a former candidate for mayor of Bogota for the Colombia Humana movement, held armed groups in the region responsible for this situation, including as Clan del Golfo, an organization accused of the forceful recruitment of minors.

He also held the State accountable because it does not exist in these regions and does not have effective policies to prevent children and teenagers from being at the mercy of those armed groups.

Minister of Defense Diego Molano replied that the operation complied with the protocols for actions like this under the International Humanitarian Law, El Tiempo daily pointed out.

Meanwhile, the ministry only acknowledges the deaths of two children and insists on awaiting the results of an investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Office to confirm the information.

When this operation was carried out, the minister of Defense hailed the soldiers’ work and confirmed the death of at least 13 of the so-called FARC dissidents.
