Ombudsman’s Office denounces intimidation against Freddy Carrión

The Ombudsman refuses to participate in the meetings of the Technical Organism for Social Rehabilitation, until another person is appointed president of the same.

This Tuesday, March 9, 2021, the Ombudsman’s Office denounced an intimidation against its owner, Freddy Carrión, after he refused to participate in the meetings of the Technical Agency for Social Rehabilitation.

The Ombudsman’s Office expressed its rejection of the position of Johana Pesántez, president of the Technical Organization for Social Rehabilitation, who would have warned Freddy Carrión that her questions would be reported to the Constitutional Court.

Several days ago, Freddy Carrión sent a letter to Pesántez, to notify her that he would not attend any meeting of the Technical Agency for Social Rehabilitation, while she presides over it. She additionally, she requested:

“Establish actions that in the short, medium and long term that generate better living conditions for people who are in the custody of the State,” the official wrote in his letter.

Carrión and the Ombudsman’s Office will not attend any meeting of this Organism, until the president, Lenín Moreno, designates another official to preside over the board.
