Official government data reveal that until that date, the country will only receive 3’132.190 doses from various laboratories, to immunize 1’566.095 people, including Phase 0 groups.
This Tuesday, March 9, 2021, the Minister of Health, Rodolfo Farfán, commented in an interview that until April 2 million people would be vaccinated in Guayaquil alone, however, these figures do not coincide with those officially published by the government.
On the website www.planvacunarse.ec the government released official information on the vaccination plan for the next few months. In these documents, it is detailed that until April Ecuador will receive 3’132.190 doses from various laboratories, which would serve to immunize 1´566.095 people throughout the country, including Phase 0 groups.
The breakdown of vaccines that has reached the country, according to the official government platform: 8.190 doses arrived in January; in February, 34.000; 1’354.000 doses should arrive in March, and 1´736.000 in April.
Farfán explained that the Ecuadorian government has already given an economic advance to purchase 20 million vaccines, which will arrive in the country as follows: 1’126.000 vaccines; in June, 790.000; in July, 6’130.000; August, 4’600.000, and in September, 4’220.000, for a total of 19’998.190.
On the possibility that the country’s municipalities import vaccines against Covid-19, the Minister of Health confirmed that the government will ask for 3 requirements.
“A letter in which the pharmacist certifies a contact or agreement with the municipality; secondly, that it is a vaccine that has the support of the FDA, EMA or the WHO and all the requirements fulfilled with the ARCSA and that it is free ”, commented the official.
Despite confirming that 2 million people will be vaccinated in Guayaquil, until April, although the doses that have arrived will not reach this number, neither the Ministry of Public Health or Rodolfo Farfán himself have clarified the figure
