Doctors warn that patients with Covid-19 are self-medicating

Doctors disapprove of this practice, because it can be detrimental to their health or masks the clinical picture

Several doctors in Guayaquil report that patients who have been infected with Covid-19 arrive at hospitals and private clinics with a history of self-medication.

Patients who self-medicate decide to start taking paracetamol and azcithromycin, when they feel the first symptoms of covid-19.

For their part, doctors comment that self-medication involves several risks for people, because some medications could be even more harmful to their health.

Among the medications most used by patients are: Paracetamol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Azcithromycin.
