Ecuador registers 252.390 cases of COVID-19 and 14.949 deaths

Ecuador reports 1.120 new infections and 34 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This Wednesday, February 3, 2021, the country has 252.390 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.949 deaths due to the pandemic.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, 10.257 people died with a positive diagnosis. To this figure, there are 4.692 deaths that were probably caused by respiratory disease.

Hospital occupancy fell slightly this Wednesday. The number of hospitalized fell to 796, after having more than 800 for nine consecutive days. While 502 patients have a reserved prognosis. This indicator has been in a row for more than eight days with more than 500 internees.

The Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the country are at the limit of their capacity and there is a waiting list of more than 80 people. In total, this February 3 there were 1.298 internees. While 136 more people were discharged from hospital.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 209.814 recovered patients have been registered, representing 83.63% of the total infected. Last week, January 25-31, there were 5.743 more people who overcame the disease.

Pichincha has 225 new infections and four more deaths in the last 24 hours. The province, where there are two cases of the new British variant of COVID19, has a total of 88.049 diagnosed with coronavirus and 2.430 deaths. Quito adds 177 more infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 81.250.
