The Ombudsman, Freddy Carrión, appeared this morning before the State Attorney General’s Office to render his version of the complaint filed with the Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, for the alleged crime of influence peddling and embezzlement, in the vaccination process against coronavirus.
The defender argued that in his appearance he will present his arguments for the lawsuit, such as the fact that in the vaccination process there were irregularities such as the application of doses to two officials who were not on the list of health personnel.
In addition, he explained that he will detail the vaccination of Zevallos’ mother, in a private center, when it does not appear in the list of hospitals designated for the application of the first doses.
Carrión denounced that 6.200 vaccines have been applied, when it was planned to immunize 4 thousand people.
“We are not told when the rest of the vaccines will come to complete the second dose and we also run the risk of rendering these first doses useless if the next ones do not arrive on time,” he explained.
He added that the alleged crimes of embezzlement and influence peddling are based on the fact that Minister Zevallos would have used state assets for private interests.
