CNE will launch a telematic vote for Ecuadorians living in the western United States

Ecuadorians residing in the western United States will be the first to test telematic voting in these elections on February 7.

The system, programmed by the Ecuadorian public company ESPEinnovativa, will be used as a pilot in the United States due to the technological facilities provided by that country.

Next Sunday, the 567 registered voters, out of more than 8.000 residents in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, will use this technological tool.

Leticia Baquerizo Guzmán, Ecuadorian Consul General in Phoenix, with jurisdiction in all those states, explained that with this digital mechanism, Ecuadorians are motivated to register.

She said that in her area this system is a solution to “guarantee the right to vote for all,” considering the great distances that exist from one end of the jurisdiction to the other.

Given that the pilot plan is launched for the first time by the National Electoral Council, the Consulate trains those who are registered for an agile and efficient use of the virtual platform.

To do this, registered Ecuadorians must carry out a validation of their electoral registration until February 5 at the address http://vototelematico.cne.gob.ec/registro

More than two million Ecuadorians (11% of the total population) reside abroad.
