Ecuador begins February with 250.986 cases of COVID-19 and 14.890 deaths

Ecuador registers 158 new infections and 31 more deaths in the last 24 hours. The country starts February with 250.986 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.890 deaths due to the pandemic.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, 10.202 people died with a positive diagnosis and 4.688 died suspected of carrying the virus.

Hospital occupancy remains high. This Monday, there are 836 stable hospitalized and 525 with a reserved prognosis. For six consecutive days the country has more than 500 hospitalized with health complications. The Intensive Care Units (ICU) have a waiting list of more than 50 people.

Since the start of the pandemic, the country has reported 209.814 recovered patients, which represents 83.65% of the total infected. This indicator has also reduced, due to the increase in infected, with respect to the number of recovered weekly.

Pichincha registers 22 new infections, the lowest figure in a week, and has four deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of positive cases in the province reaches 87.678 and 2.423 deaths. Quito adds 21 more infected and the total cases in the Ecuadorian capital amount to 80.940.
