Brazil exceeded nine million infections and Bolsonaro criticizes restrictive measures: “Isolation leads us to misery”

The National Council of Health Secretaries (CONASS) of Brazil indicated that the country registers 9’058.687 infected by coronavirus.

CONASS noted that this Thursday, 61.811 new positive cases and 1.386 deaths were recorded, for a total of 221.547 deaths since the pandemic began.

Brazil is the epicenter of the pandemic in Latin America and the third most affected country in the world after the United States, with 26.2 million infected and more than 442 thousand deaths, and India with 10.7 million positive cases and 154.294 deaths .

This is the third consecutive day that Brazil has registered more than 1.200 deaths and daily infections exceeded 61.000.

These numbers are even more alarming in the state of Amazonas, where the lack of oxygen tubes triggered a health crisis that has not been controlled.

According to the epidemiological balance of the Brazilian authorities, the Amazon has an average of 185 deaths from coronavirus per 100.000 inhabitants.

In Brazil, the vaccination campaign against covid-19 began on January 17, after the emergency approval of the CoronaVac, of Chinese origin, by the National Health Surveillance Agency
