The Vice Minister of Health, Xavier Solórzano, spoke about the arrival of the Pfizer vaccines in Ecuador, which were scheduled for this January 18. Given this, he indicated that the Government still does not know the day and time when this shipment will arrive, but they are sure it will be this week.
“We still don’t know what day and at what exact time the vaccines will arrive in the country; however, it is 100% certain that they will arrive this week, ”he explained.
Solórzano also indicated that the 86.000 doses of vaccines will not arrive today, but will arrive in parts, in the following weeks. Something that contradicts the announcements issued by President Moreno and several members of his Cabinet.
“The 86.000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will not arrive in the country in one fell swoop. This is because the pharmacist assigns a number of weekly vaccines. We will obtain an average of 8.000 to 10.000 per week ”.
In the same way, he indicated that this amount will be gradual, since, in the following weeks, it could increase the number of doses that reach the country.
On the other hand, he warned that, on a national scale, the occupancy of hospital beds is 40%, while that of intensive care beds is 86%.
