Ecuador registers 231.644 cases of COVID-19 and 14.322 deaths

Ecuador registers 162 new infections and three more deaths in the last 24 hours. This January 18, 2021, the country has 231.644 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.322 deaths due to the pandemic.

According to the government report, there are 9.717 people who died with a positive diagnosis and 4.605 ​​deaths suspected of carrying the respiratory virus.

Hospital occupancy continues to increase. This Monday they report 744 stable hospitalized. While the number of patients with a reserved prognosis reaches 500 hospitalized, a figure never seen before since the beginning of the pandemic in the country. In total, there are 1.244 hospitalized in one day due to complications from the coronavirus. While 70 more people were discharged from hospital.

Since the beginning of the health emergency, the country has a total of 199.332 recovered patients, which represents 86.11% of the total infected. This indicator is updated every week, but its percentage has decreased. In the week of January 11 to 17 it represented 87.85%, the previous week it was 88.69%.
