Prosecutor’s Office opens a preliminary investigation against the Minister of Health for alleged influence peddling

The Prosecutor’s Office opened a previous investigation against the Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, for an alleged crime of influence peddling in the process of distribution of vaccines for Covid-19.

The entity is based on several complaints presented by the participation of Zevallos in a vaccination session against the coronavirus, in a private nursing home where his mother resides. The Secretary of State must explain this fact to the Prosecutor’s Office on February 1 at 8:30.

The group Acción Jurídica Popular and Amapola Naranjo presented the complaints against the minister. They even presented press releases that record the actions of the official, who justified last Wednesday that he had been vaccinated at the center where he has relatives.

At the moment, the State Attorney General, Diana Salazar, asked the Ministry of Health to deliver the protocol and plan established to determine the order, the form of vaccination and a certificate of what was executed.

In turn, they must report on how many vaccines were placed in the nursing home at Hospital de los Valles and who was in charge.

The certification requested by the Prosecutor’s Office from the Ministry of Health corresponds to the list of people who were immunized in the nursing home who would not be first-line health personnel, as well as the place where the vaccination was carried out.

The Ministry of Health has two days to send all this information, which was also requested from the Hospital de los Valles.

Likewise, Salazar required that the pharmaceutical company Pfizer disclose how many vaccines it delivered to the Ministry of Health.
