German government stopped recognizing Juan Guaidó as “interim president” of Venezuela

The German government stopped recognizing Juan Guaidó as “interim president” of Venezuela, according to the official spokesman, Christofer Burger. This decision is also founded and supported by the Council of State of the European Union.

The German authorities believe that the efforts of the European power should focus on promoting political negotiations in Venezuela, so that the country has credible presidential elections.

Another factor to which Germany made reference was that all sanctions that weigh on the South American country must be lifted, because they are devastating and ineffective.

On the other hand, the European Union confirmed that it will no longer recognize Juan Guaidó as an “interim president”. For the European foreign ministers, the opposition leader and other legislators elected in the last elections and in the current ones will only be: “important actors and privileged interlocutors”.
