The candidate for the Presidency for the alliance “Unión Por la Esperanza”, Andrés Arauz, heads the list of voting preference for the general elections on February 7, according to a national survey conducted by the Institute of Social Studies and the Public Opinion (IESOP).
The study was carried out from January 25 to 26, 2021, to 1.600 people over 16 years of age, from urban and rural areas of the provinces of Pichincha, Guayas, Manabí and Azuay; and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5%, with a 95% reliability.
With 35% of the valid votes, the candidate for UNES is the most optioned to win the elections. In second place is the candidate for the CREO-PSC alliance, Guillermo Lasso, with 27% of the votes.
Yaku Pérez, candidate for Pachakutik, has 17% of the votes; Xavier Hervas appears in fourth place with 6%; while Lucio Gutiérrez, Juan Fernando Velasco and Isidro Romero have a 2% preference.
On the other hand, regarding the preference between Andrés Araúz and Guillermo Lasso, the study showed a tie with 32% for each candidate; while 35% of the participants determined that they would choose Yaku Pérez, before Guillermo Lasso.
Between Yaku Pérez and Andrés Arauz, 37% would prefer the candidate for Pachakkutik, and 28% the candidate for UNES.
When asked about their participation in this democratic process, it was determined that 91% of those surveyed will go to vote, while 6% do not plan to participate in electoral day.
