Ecuador registers 2.465 new infections and 62 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This January 28, the country adds a total of 246.000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.766 deaths due to this pandemic.
According to the latest government report, the country registers 10.087 deceased people with a positive diagnosis. To this number, there are 4.679 deaths that were probably due to the respiratory virus.
Hospital occupancy at the national level remains at the limit in several provinces, especially in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), areas with a waiting list of more than 50 patients. This Thursday, there are 851 stable hospitalized and 508 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.259 interned in one day. While 69 more people were discharged from hospital.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Government reports that 204.071 patients have recovered, which represents 84.57% of the total infected. In the last week, from January 18 to 24, there were 4.739 more people who overcame the disease.
Pichincha adds 995 new infections and 11 more deaths. The province registers 86.049 diagnosed with the new coronavirus and 2.408 deaths. These figures include the two new positive cases of the British variant detected in a 64-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl. Both are in intensive care with a reserved prognosis. Quito reports 974 more infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 79.429.
