The president of Ecuador leaves “an economy in debt above the limits imposed by the Constitution and with strong fiscal imbalances”, concludes the study.

The Legislative Directory Foundation carried out an investigation on the image and influence of the presidency in Latin America. This analysis was carried out in November and December of the previous year and places the President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, as the President with the worst image on the continent.

“Lenín Moreno ends his term as the President with the worst image in the Region. He leaves as a legacy an economy indebted above the limits imposed by the Constitution and with strong fiscal imbalances ”, the study concludes.

The positive image of Moreno would be 11%. This would place him as the least approved President in Latin America; Furthermore, the study shows that 84% of Ecuadorians have a negative image of the President.

Nayib Bukele tops the list with a positive image in the country of him, with 93% approval. He is followed by Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, with 78% approval and the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with 61% approval.

On the other hand, the leaders with the worst approval are Sebastián Piñera in Chile and Lenín Moreno in Ecuador.

The document also shows that the approval of the National Assembly in Ecuador is barely 5% and it would also rank as the Congress with the least popular support in Latin America.

It should be remembered that eight countries will go through electoral processes in 2021. Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru will elect a new president or president, while in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru they will be renewed all or part of the legislative powers
