Donald Trump signed 73 pardons before leaving the White House

Among the beneficiaries is Steve Bannon who was accused of using USD1 million in personal expenses, with funds donated for the construction of the border wall of Mexico.

This Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Donald Trump ceased to be the president of the United States, however, as a last action, the Republican leader pardoned 73 people and signed the commutation of 70 sentences.

Among the people Donald Trump has pardoned is the name of Steve Bannon, a far-right adviser, who was accused of defrauding donors for the construction of the wall in Mexico.

Steve Bannon worked hand in hand with Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential campaign that brought the Republican leader to the presidential seat in the White House.

The Manhattan prosecutor’s office detained Bannon last August after being accused of occupying USD 1 million for personal expenses, with the funds that had been donated for the construction of the border wall in Mexico.

Presidential pardons in the United States are very common in the last days of a president’s government. Therefore, Donald Trump sought to free several friends and figures close to his government.
