In 2020, the Internal Revenue Service (SRI) raised USD 12 382 million.
Only in December of the previous year, it achieved USD 1 068 million, which is equivalent to an increase of USD 34 million and a growth of 3.3% compared to December 2019.
During the January – December period, the collection for Value Added Tax (VAT) reached USD 5 506 million. Meanwhile, the collection corresponding to December, for this same concept, was USD 550 million. This represents a growth of 4.2% in relation to the same month of 2019.
For Income Tax (IR), during 2020, USD 4 406 million were collected, while only in the last month there was a collection of USD 300 million, that is, 9.3% growth in relation to December of 2019.
In relation to the Special Consumption Tax (ICE), the SRI collected during 2020, USD 740 million. Only in December it was USD 76 million, that is, 4.8% growth in relation to the same month of 2019.
Marisol Andrade, general director of the SRI, commented that despite the difficult situation that the country went through during the previous year, the management of the entity was maintained and limited that tax collection recovered during the last quarter of the year.
