This Tuesday, December 1, 2020, the United Nations (UN) reported that two thirds of school-age children do not have access to the internet at home.

A detailed report by Unicef and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) reveals that 1.3 billion children between 3 and 17 years old do not have access to the internet at home, this figure grew during the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the global emergency of Covid-19, the majority of schools and colleges in the world turned to online education, which is why, the situation that many students are going through is “worrying”. Henrietta Fore, head of Unicef, commented that:

“The fact that so many children do not have internet access at home is a real obstacle. Not connecting keeps them from competing in the modern economy and isolates them from the world, “he said.
